Rethinking how we dress

A continuation a project I did, 霸占空间, in which I observed and recorded reactions from the public based on the clothes that I wore - clothes I felt were inappropriate in certain spaces. For this project, instead of putting the spotlight on people’s reaction to our clothes, I wanted to put the spotlight on how we dress. Why we dress the way we do, either it’s in spite of what we should wear or in accordance to what we know we should wear. To question how we perform with our clothes, to create an identity, to reveal what we desire, how we perform for professionalism, perform for hygiene even… and how much of these social stigma/social codes can we push. Going back into the wearer, I’m interested in the choice that we make - a conscious choice, to what extent is it a conscious choice.

Let's rethink how we dress
